Rodeando el diálogo: comunicado frente al ataque de hoy

En ReD deploramos profundamente la muerte de combatientes en medio del conflicto armado y la reciente confrontación que acaba de dejar nuevas víctimas. Expresamos nuestra solidaridad con las familias que han perdido seres queridos. A la vez, y porque necesitamos mirar este proceso en perspectiva, debemos recordar que las partes decidieron negociar en medio de la confrontación.
Las negociaciones han avanzado considerablemente, y como consecuencia las partes han ofrecido desescalar el conflicto. Las FARC han ofrecido un cese al fuego unilateral, y el gobierno parar los bombardeos a campamentos de las FARC. Como resultado hemos tenido los meses con el menor número de enfrentamientos armados desde el inicio del conflicto. Lo más importante es que los avances muestran que las partes le están apostando a proyectos de largo plazo de desescalamiento del conflicto con apoyo internacional, como lo es el desminado. Existen muchos indicios más que demuestran claramente que, gracias al poder del diálogo, se ha construido confianza entre las partes y se han ido dando pasos sin precedentes para terminar el conflicto. Por eso respaldamos la continuación de los diálogos, sin pausa y sin retrocesos, para construir un país sin violencia política: los negociadores en La Habana y nosotros fuera de la mesa, en Colombia y el resto del mundo. Sólo manteniendo el compromiso de todos podremos encontrarnos todos en un mismo diálogo nacional.
Por otra parte, hacemos un llamado a la comunidad internacional en general, a los países acompañantes (Chile y Venezuela) y garantes (Cuba y Noruega) y a los enviados especiales de Estados Unidos y Alemania, a pronunciarse en torno a la importancia de mantener los diálogos en La Habana y apaciguar los ánimos en Colombia.
Que sea esta la oportunidad de expresar también nuestro respaldo a la negociación con el ELN. Esperamos seguir construyendo una cultura de diálogo para fortalecer una ciudanía activa que reivindique sus derechos, incluyendo el derecho a la paz.

In ReD we deeply regret the death of combatants as a result of the armed conflict, as well as the recent confrontation which has left behind new victims. We express our solidarity with the families who have lost loved ones. Equally, and since we need to view this process in perspective, we should remind ourselves that the parties agreed to negotiate in the midst of the conflict.
The negotiations have advanced considerably, and as a result the parties took steps to de-escalate the conflict. The FARC offered a unilateral ceasefire, and the government had stopped bombing FARC camps. As a result, in recent months we have seen the fewest number of armed combats since the conflict began. The most important thing is that the advances prove the parties are focusing on long-term projects which, with international support, will de-escalate the conflict, such as the agreement on de-mining. There are many other clear signs that, thanks to the power of dialogue, confidence has been built between the parties and unprecedented steps have been taken to bring the conflict to an end. For this reason we continue to back the talks, without interruption or setbacks, in order to construct a country free of political violence: the negotiators in Havana and those of us not at the table, in Colombia and around the world. Only by staying committed will we all be able to come together in a single national dialogue.
By the same token, we call upon the international community in general, the accompanying and garantor countries (Chile and Venezuela, and Cuba and Norway respectively), as well as the US and German special envoys, to speak to the importance of continuing the talks in Havana, and easing tensions in Colombia.
We also take this opportunity to express our support for negotiations with the ELN. We hope to continue building a culture of dialogue to build active citizens capable of defending their rights, including the right to peace.
